Day Two: The Wa People

Who are the Wa?
The culture of the 350,000 Wa people who live in China's Yunnan Province is one rich in art and performance closely tied to history and their ancestors. Most songs and dances reflect the hunting and worship activities of the Wa of long ago. It is the Cangyuan Cliff Paintings, however, found in southwest Yunnan, which are the most treasured works of art among the Wa. These paintings depict both the daily and religious life of the Wa ancestors in the Neolithic era.

Witchcraft is a common part of life for the Wa people. Chicken bones are used for divination purposes, and a wizard is called upon to banish the ghosts afflicting a sick person.

Points of Prayer:
1. For the Lord to be glorified among these people, so they will turn away from their demonic practices and worship Him alone.

2. For every unbeliever to be saved.

3. That Christian workers will be moved to target the Wa for intercession, evangelism, and church planting.
