Stamping Out the Idols
Sylvia served as a volunteer at the age of 75. Her team was made up of her daughter, her son-in-law, her grandchildren, and a college student. They taught English and sports to rural teenage students. One day, Sylvia and a Chinese-speaking friend walked out into nearby fields where farmers were harvesting garlic. They stopped to help and as the work finished up for the day, the farmers invited the two women into their home.
